But this time around, I found the heroine, Millicent Foster's character cold, at times to be both caustic and abrasive and just too jaded. Breene's female characters and cheer them on as they overcome challenges. The storyline was also good, but just not for me. The world building was great and easy to imagine. Super disappointing, since I was looking forward to this audiobook and planned on pre-ordering the next. I had to rewind the first 30 min of the book three times because I just couldn't get into it. In my opinion it is worth the creditĪ fan of K. The look in full of adventure and romance. I also enjoyed Ryker, he was a little over the top but at the end of the day he was willing to do anything for Millicent and her daughter. I enjoyed Trent, seeing how he world changed and his eyes opened to see that there is so much more to life than what he new. I enjoyed how the different characters learn to love and depend on each other. It was fun to see Millicent learn to love through her daughter and how she was willing to sacrifice everything to keep her daughter. People are given medicine to remove emotions and sexual desires. In this world people controlled and could be reprogrammed if they are not compliant. People are not permitted to reproduce in this world. Millicent lives in a futuristic world where powerful Corporations have taken human rights. I think I really started enjoying the book after the Millicent became pregnant. I really enjoyed the book but I must warn the first few chapter are not very engaging.
